Multi user Profile Installation using a NetBEUI network 1. Download the latest version of Profile from the web site www.dms-intnat.com and install this onto your server. You will need to re-boot the server at this point. Run the Profile system and select "Configure" from the drop down menus and select "System". From the Configuration tab, select "Embed Images". Accept the changes and close. Exit Profile. Go into Windows explorer and for the Profile and Interbase directories, right click and select "Sharing and Security". Select "Share this folder on the network" and "Allow network users to change my files". Then click on the Ok button. 2. Install the latest version of Profile on all the client machines, which need to run the system. You will need to re-boot each machine after installation. From each client machine, run the Profile system and then exit. This is to create the database alias. Then, for each client machine, select the BDE Administrator from the control panel and highlight the Profile database. Amend the SERVER NAME property to point to the PROFILE.GDB database on the server. If you have accepted the default installation settings, this should be set to the following. \\ServerName\c\PROGRA~1\Profile\Profile.gdb Where ServerName is the name of the server. You can do a search for the database at this stage, but, ensure that you amend any long directory names (more that 8 characters long) to the short format if using Windows 95 or Windows 98. "Program files" should be entered as "PROGRA~1". Check that you can run the Profile system from each client machine. 3. For each of the client machines, delete the Interbase directory. If you accepted the default settings, this will be C:\Program files\Interbase. Then, for each of the client machines, delete the file PROFILE.GDB from the Profile directory. This will be in C:\Program files\Profile. if you accepted the default settings.
